The weather is obviously something that attracts visitors to St Lucia. Watty W Weasel has found some useful sites below. Prepare a leaflet or presentation to let them decide when it is a good time for them to visit.

Provide information about the weather visitors can expect in St Lucia

This is a simple introduction to the weather in St Lucia with brief explanation of the seasons. How do they differ to ours? You can find out about the weather today in St Lucia from this site too by clicking on the provided link.

 

 

A more detailed explanation of the weather from the St Lucia Met Service. Print it off, or copy and paste it into a word processing application. Highlight the information about the rain, temperature and wind.

Create a chart listing the months of the year and headings for rain, temperature and wind

Fill in the chart with the information eg

February Dry, cool, windier.

You might like to create small weather icons to show on your chart. This will help visitors to decide when they wish to visit.

Tropical Storms

There is a possibility of tropical storms
Rarely there may even be hurricanes. Click on the icon to find facts about hurricanes

This link to Wunderground will show if there are current tropical storms or hurricanes in the area. Links below help you to track them.

StormCarib will report on storms in the Caribbean. Look at the left panel to see the names of the storms for each year. How are they organised? They are highlighted as they happen. Click on them to read local reports from local people. This will take you directly to reports from all the islands. Just click on St Lucia where Mike Davis provides reports.
What does it feel like to be cut off from people who are in a storm or hurricane?
Clicking on the 'Bulletin Board' link and reading some messages will give you some idea. Use them for ideas for writing some of your own messages and post them on a 'Storm Board' in the classroom.

 

Find out more about hurricanes from these two fantastic sites. This Fema site gives a simple explanation of hurricanes but tells you lots lots more. Click on the sun to see a really stunning web site. When you have seen them design a disaster kit just in case a hurricane or strong tropical storm should hit St Lucia so visitors are well prepared.
