Make a map of dive sites with good descriptions
This site opens an interactive map of sites in
St Lucia.
To read these instructions while looking at the site click
here.
- Read the introduction and click to enlarge to a map of St
Lucia.
- Move the mouse over to find the Anse La Ray region and click
on it.
- Move your mouse over the dive symbols. Look in the area
below the map to see the names
- Make a note of the four names.
- Look at the Soufriere region too. There are far more here
but you might like to look at the interesting names and choose
one or two
Don't forget to use the 'Zoom out' button to
change regions.

of the dive sites in both regions.

More detailed information about some
of the sites is given. It shows diagrams of the steepness of the
dives. Make a note of the types of coral and fish which can be
seen. Clicking on the Frequently asked questions
will give some interesting information including dangerous species!

Mark the chosen sites on a blank map of St Lucia.
Using the information from the sites above, write your own description
of each site. You want to make your visitors feel they can't possibly
miss doing this!
How to present
The map group may have saved a map already. If
not click on the mask icon to copy
or save
one.
- You could print this map. To enlarge or position it in Word
you may need to text
wrap it. Add your dive information to the map by hand.
- Having saved or copied the map you can place it into a word
processing document such as Word or into a publishing application
such as Publisher or Textease. If you use Word you will need
to use Textboxes
to add text.

Write some literature to persuade people
to try diving if they are new to it.
Watch an underwater video to inspire you to write
some wonderful descriptions. Check with your teacher before downloading
the video. You might need to download Microsoft Media Player to
see it. There is a link on the page.

Make a montage of fish and corals seen when
diving. This is a good source. Remember to record and state
the source. Clicking on the thumbnails will open up a larger
picture for this and the site below.

Find out what you can about corals from books
at school or go to this site. You can use the pictures to colour
if you wish.

Make a poster warning visitors about
how people can damage coral reefs.
This is a site about the coral reefs in St Lucia
for Secondary School children but it is very useful. Your teacher
might need to help you with it. It shows ways in which the coral
reef can be damaged. Scroll down the page to where it says
