Watty
W Weasel has found a few web sites with photos of houses in Anse La Raye.
Ask other groups to look out for any photos of houses on the island they
might come across.
Remember,
the families are not offering big posh accommodation but the chance to
live with ordinary families in the village and round about. Visitors need
to know what the houses look like.
You
also need to show visitors general scenes around the area so look out
for those too.
A
good way to find if pictures have been added since his search, is to go
to www.google.co.uk
and click on the image tab. In the search box write "Anse La
Raye" and it will bring up any images to do with Anse La Raye. Find
out more here.
Stella
Stoat has organised all of Watty's searches and added notes.
Clicking
on the icons will take you straight to the web sites. If there is more
than one click on the hyperlink - the orange writing.
Remember:
If you use any of these images in a presentation you should always copy
the internet address and display it to acknowledge where it came from.

This is a series of images
from a tourist's visit to St Lucia. It includes some pictures
of houses. Scroll through the pages. You might like to use several
of them to provide good overall taste of the island. Click on
a thumbnail to enlarge it.
Here are photos from Anse La
Raye
...
and some more! Scroll down to find them.
Think if any of these might
be useful for other groups too.

This shows photos from a Caribbean Cruise. This
page shows the stop off at St Lucia. There are two pictures in
Anse La Raye but others will be useful.

This is a very useful site prepared by the ICT
Team from Oxfordshire Education Department with a project on St
Lucia.
There are two pages of useful pictures for all
parts of this Venture. Search out useful ones for your part of
the project. Clicking on a thumbnail picture will produce a bigger
one.

This is another page from the Oxford project.
If you get a Password box just cancel it or it is safe to click
on 'Open'. It will open up a page with some information about
houses on it and suggestions for comparing life in St Lucia with
Oxford. You could change that to your home town or village or
just Britain in general.

Plan and design a house to stand up to
possible hurricanes!
A big problem with housing in St. Lucia is that
the island can sometimes be hit by hurricanes or at least
tropical storms. Because many of the islanders are poor their
houses have not been built in the best way to withstand such storms.
There was a lot of information on a site that has now disappeared
but Stella Stoat copied all the images. Click on the icon to view
them.
Copy or save the pictures and then design a house
for you visitors. You might like to tackle this just as drawings
or to plan and design one for D&T. Alternatively you could
design an advert as builders of 'Hurricane safe houses'. Think
of a good logo too.

Find out more about hurricanes.
This second
site shows the progress of a hurricane over a few days and
how to prepare for it. If possible view the 'Standard Multimedia
Version' to 'watch' the television weather forecast and the
animations.
