Cornist Park Primary School, Flintshire

" We had a very enjoyable day- thankyou. The children have been really enthusiastic and the workshops provided the perfect stimulus for generating some 'Big Questions' on which to focus their group research."

The journey presentation - Lots of interesting facts- helped set the scene very well

Artefacts - Children really enjoyed workshop, but would have liked more time to draw and learn about them

African dance - This is what the children remember the most!
Even our most reluctant boys joined in - must have been good!

Extracts from children's letters - Yr 3/4

"Thank you for a wonderful day. I hope you had a good time like all of us.
I enjoyed describing the tools and musical instruments from Africa."

" Thank you for teaching us to speak in an African language. I really enjoyed your African dancing especially when you put a cushion on your bottom!"

" I really enjoyed learning about the things that they use. I enjoyed learning about the broom and how they use things differently to us. Africa must be really hot because we wear jackets and they wear short tops. I loved when you taught us how to say our numbers in Mandinka. Thankyou. I really enjoyed it. It was really fun"

" Thank you so much for coming. I have learnt so much about Africa today. It was very interesting and I enjoyed it. I think the most interesting bit was in the hall (the artefacts) and you told us some words and songs in Mandinka and thankyou for telling us a website. It must be very fun to go to Janjanbureh and learn about life and how different it is to ours."

" Thank you very much for sharing your future with us. I really loved it. It is nice of you. Africa is a lovely country."

" I really was interested. I was touched and loved that song and that dance was funny.
I liked finding what the things were for."

" I had a brilliant time and I learned a lot about Africa. I wish you could come again and again but you can't. I enjoyed you being here."

" It was a pleasure talking to you. Thank you so much for coming in and telling us how Africans live. I loved the bit where you taught how to say numbers in Mandinka language. It makes me astonished how quick they learn their languages."

Bredon Hancock's Primary, Worcestershire. Year 3 half day session

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon last Friday. The children really enjoyed themselves and learnt so much from your excellent presentation and artefacts. We had a discussion later and it was pleasing to note how much information the children had gained from your visit. They loved the dancing, counting and singing; I am surprised that so many of them remembered the word for toes!!!

Today, we had a look at the wsebsite. They have really enjoyed researching more facts as they found the website easy to navigate enabling them to find what they wanted quicickly....... .....
