A new Nursery
was built in 2004 at
Boraba Lower Basic School
|
|

|
|
|
It is built like the
other classrooms with open walls instead of windows. Why is this
a good idea? |
|
It has been painted white
with lots of colourful pictures and the alphabet. |
|
These paintings will last
well in the heat. Paper is expensive and gets very brittle in the
high temperatures |

Teachers from England
took some puppets for the Nursery. These children had never seen
one before. Some were scared of it at first. |
|
After a while they were brave
enough to touch it. |
|
The Nursery teacher is learning
a song she can share with the children - and the parrot puppet! |
Nursery children do not have to wear
a uniform but children from a school in the UK decorated white T shirts
for them to wear.
In 2007 money was taken instead to have uniforms made in Janjnabureh.
Why do you think this might be a better idea?
This meant that many more children were able to go to nursery than before.
This was because parents have to pay 10 dalasi (about 20 pence) a month
to pay for the Nursery teacher.
Many cannot afford this and to pay
for clothes too
