School is a place where mothers know their children can eat good food as each child receives a meal funded by an international charity. That is often a good reason for sending them to school.

The cooks make dinners for them in the kitchen here at the Methodist Lower Basic School in Janjanbureh

There is a scheme where mothers receive grants to help them grow or buy foods to sell to the children at break time. That money then helps them in the home.
The children bring about 3 dalasi to pay. This is about 6pence.

Some children may share their food

All the food will be fresh and disappears quickly!

Some drinks can be bought. This is wonjo juice made from sorrel.
