Schools
Children do not have to go to school
in The Gambia but parents are very keen that they should.
Find out what you can about them.

Here is Boraba
Lower Basic School.
There is a newly built Nursery.
The classes go from Nursery, then Grade 1 to Grade 6.
The children might start school at any age so there are different ages
in each Grade.
They may leave to go to the Upper Basic School at Janjanbureh at 13 or
they may still be at this school until 15.
Children come to this school
speaking Mandinka or Fula.
At some schools children will speak other tribal languages too.
Often they cannot understand each other.
All children are taught in English
