Create Textboxes in Word

Word is a word processing application, not a desk top publisher. You cannot just click anywhere on the page and start typing there.
You may want to add labels to an image or map. To do this you need to use textboxes.

How?
Make sure the draw toolbar can be seen. You can click on the Drawing icon or go to View>Toolbars>Drawing.

It will show this toolbar

Click on the textbox icon
Click on the page and drag out to the size you need.
To move it, click in it so handles and a criss-cross border appear.
Click on the border and drag it around.
You can type inside it.
You can format the text in the normal way or...
Right click on the border of the textbox to explore other ways of formatting it e.g. width and colours of borders or no border.

Hint: Format one text box just as you want it, then copy and paste it. Edit the text. This is quicker than formatting each textbox!
