To text wrap and format a picture

When you first copy a picture into Word it will probably have a black border around it with black handles. It cannot be easily moved around the page. You need to Text Wrap it.

There are two main ways of doing this.

1
  • Right click with your mouse on the picture
  • Select Format picture
  • Click on Layout tab
  • Choose from selection. You will probably choose Square or Tight. These will not look any different if the picture has straight edges but if it is irregular then text can flow around the shape.

Now you can move the picture around and text will flow around it.

N.B. The handles are now white.

2

  • Left click with your mouse on the picture
  • On the picture toolbar click on the Text wrap icon
  • Choose from the selection and continue as above

N.B. If you cannot see the picture toolbar go to

View>Toolbar>picture
